“go be the stars.”- I know what that means for me and you alluded to it a couple of paragraphs later with the reference to the north star. There are a handful of people who have helped to guide me in my own healing journey and you are one of those, Evey.

I have no words. This is just a little peep to send you some whatever you need.

I do feel like you are already being the stars because you are lighting up dark night skies. Thank you for what you do and your sharing.

Thank you so much for writing this and for sharing this part of your story. My son and I listened to the new song this morning when I was dropping him off at school and we both loved it. I got home and started to see the things being said and have been so torn. I very nearly slipped into thinking I couldn't listen to them again after hearing the things Cedric said - what his wife went through was awful and what his family have been through since leaving scientology sounds terrible but, you're right, that means they are coming at this through the lens of their suffering which is totally understandable. We don't know what has happened in Emily Armstrong's life in the past few years, and we haven't heard her explanation of why she was at the trial. I hope the band put out a statement soon to address some of these accusations. I hope they are able to.

Linkin Park meant so much to me as well as a kid, and Chester’s death hit me so hard, harder than robin williams even, I couldn’t listen to their songs for a couple years; his pain was too real all of a sudden 😭

how music can pull us out of our darkest moments is so amazing.. it makes me appreciate them more that they kept you from falling into darkness as well ❤️

Oh man! That DBZ video! That one and POD -Youth of the Nation (very appropriate song for our nation right now).

Thanks for this! I love the allegory with the band and your journey. I hard relate there.

“People who have a score to settle are not inherently dishonest, but they are extremely likely to have a very specific kind of tunnel vision that produces something very different than the truth.” <— This, 110%. Searching for the truth is NOT the same as defending a narrative.

Your story’s amazing! You’ve survived one of humanity’s most rigorous tests. You have pushed the Sisyphean Boulder to the mountain top again and again and made it balance.

As a therapist with a trans history I know how difficult that journey and terrifying and exhausting and fortifying it is when you realize that everyone you know sees the person you always knew could grow from that seed into a brave and lovely woman.

Namaste, Sister.

As a non-Lincoln-Park-fan, this was still a worthwhile read and a good reminder. Humans tend to human, and when we learn better we do better. We are not the sum total of the worst thing we have ever done.
